I was asked about the name Tommy Tillo. Here is how it came to be.
in the summer of 2011 I had this wonderful drink at Pegu Club in NYC; a tomatillo highball. It was a creation off their summer menu and I loved it so much that I ordered it every time I went to Pegu to start my evening.
I stuck true to form through that summer of 2011, ordering the highball as my first drink every visit. So true to form that I was no longer presented a menu, but when I took a seat the highball appeared in front of me within a minute or two. Bartender and friend Del Pedro had taken to putting my name in the register as Tommy Tillo and introduced me to other patrons using that name. The drink disappeared off the menu that summer, but the name stuck. Del, Raul, and the other bartenders would call me Tommy Tillo.
I later found out that at Pegu I was also known as Dexter, first behind my back, and then right up front, because of my resemblance to a certain fictional serial killer. That is a story for another blog post.
A few years ago I took on the name Tommy Tillo as my Instagram name and thought it would make a great name for this website as well.
